Chinese owners still need to balance the books and the young Bastoni is suitable for a transfer
Champion or no champion, Inter Milan needs to sell. The Chinese company Suning has just marked the sixt year of ownership over the 2020 Serie A champions and they remain in financial minus which needs to be covered, which means – sell the players. According to La Repubblica, sporting director Beppe Marotta has been given instructions from the owners to finish this transfer window (1. July – 1. September) with a net profit of 80 million euros, and to slash the wage bill at the club by 15%. So, another big name sell is on the way, and the fans are not happy, because his name is Alessandro Bastoni.

In this particular case, the 'big name' is actually not that big, but the problem is, everyone expects him to become big, so he will command a large transfer fee, just what the owners need. In 2020, the title was finally won, but with the price – Serie A champions had to sell to balance the books and Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi were sold to Chelsea and PSG. Everyone remembered that the Belgian was not keen of leaving at all, but he was kind of forced, as the club's biggest earner.
Lautaro Martinez has been named the biggest asset in Inter, but so far, he is considered as 'untouchable'. But, if a big offer comes up, and Inter manages to secure a loan deal for Lukaku and sign free agent Paulo Dybala, things could change. Until then, 70 million euros Bastoni is a subject of a 'forced' sell. The youngster is higly rated defender, but the problem is, he is Inter's supporter and he is keen to stay in his boyhood club, even thou his former boss Antonio Conte wants him.

And that brings Inter executives in a very awkward situation: they are forcing a sell of a perspective young player who is Inter Milan supporter. And the fans are having non of it. They occupied the social networks in recent days with angry comments towards Suning owners, calling the company to sell if they cannot keep their best players. And what about the player himself? His manager has this to add.
“He is certainly a big fan of the team he plays for, so he will happily remain at Inter. However, he is also a professional. This is football and he has to adjust. It’s clear he is very happy to play for Inter and feels this jersey like a tattoo on his skin” Tullio Tinti told Sportitalia television.
