K'Ogalo are currently at the summit of the league table with 61 points, six more than second placed AFC Leopards

Gor Mahia legendary goalkeeper Jerim Onyango has weighed in on the title race, offering some counsel to his former club on how to win the FKF Premier League title.

K’Ogalo have been on a mission to reclaim the league title this season after losing the 2024/25 title to Kenya Police in a season that they also went trophyless.

Gor moved an inch closer to their target after securing an important 1-0 victory over their arch-rivals AFC Leopards in the 99th Mashemeji Derby held on Sunday 26 April courtesy of a 83rd minute strike by Alpha Onyango.

Speaking exclusively to Mozzart Sport, Onyango who captained the club to three league titles explained how they can lift the title this season.

“Right now, the title is a bit closer and I am sure they can see it. However, they must take one game at a time in order to get the job done. Thinking that they have already won it would be disastrous. They must keep the focus in every single game until they cross the line,” said Onyango.

The 41-year-old also explained why the Kenyan giants’ next two matches against Kakamega Homeboyz and Police FC respectively are the title deciders.

“The next two matches especially will be very key, beginning with the match against Kakamega Homeboyz. If they can hold their nerves, build on the morale from the derby and win the next two matches, they shall have killed the hopes of the chasing pack and possibly cruise to the 22nd title,” he remarked.

Nonetheless, the former Harambee Stars goalkeeper trainer believes the title is K’Ogalo’s to lose.

Winning against AFC Leopards was obviously a massive boost to their title campaign as those were their closest rivals,” he stated.

Gor Mahia are currently at the summit of the league table with 61 points, six more than second placed AFC Leopards. Next up for the 21-time champions is the match against Kakamega Homeboyz scheduled for Sunday, 3 May at the Mumias Sports Complex from 1500 hrs.
