KCB defeated Ulinzi Stars in a friendly match played at Lanet Barracks. Curtis Wekesa scored the all-important goal of the match
Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side KCB defeated counterparts, Ulinzi Stars 1-0 in a friendly match played on Saturday afternoon at Lanet in Nakuru County.
With the FKF Premier League resuming in under a week, the two teams used the match to gauge their level of readiness for what may prove to be a rigorous few months.
The match was closely fought with most of the action taking place in the middle of the park. Curtis Wekesa proved to be the difference as his goal settled the closely fought match.
The attacker expressed his delight at finding the back of the net for his new club. Wekesa, who joined the Bankers in January had been sidelined for close to a year after undergoing knee surgery and he hopes to build on the goal against the military outfit going forward.

“It definitely feels good to be back scoring goals. It’s been a long journey back from injury and getting that scoring-touch back is good. I will build on that going forward,” he told Mozzart Sport.
Upon resumption of the league, KCB will play Tusker way while Ulinzi, who were set to play the now expelled Zoo FC will have a weekend off.
KCB currently sits second in the FKF Premier League log with 29 points after 14 rounds of league matches. They are four points adrift of leaders Tusker FC who have played a match more.
Ulinzi Stars on the other hand are ninth with 18 points after 16 matches. The Soldiers have been underwhelming so far this season and coach Benjamin Nyangweso will be hoping that his team finally comes to the party when the league resumes.
