The former Manchester United player had harsh words for the outburst involving the brother of Manchester United first-teamer Kobbie Mainoo
Roy Keane launched a fierce attack on Kobbie Mainoo’s brother, Jordan Hames-Mainoo, branding him an “idiot” after he wore a ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ T-shirt during Manchester United’s wild 4-4 draw with Bournemouth. The former United captain also cautioned that the midfielder may have damaged his own prospects of carving out a role under Ruben Amorim.
Under the Portuguese coach, Mainoo has completed a full 90 minutes only once this season — in United’s humiliating Carabao Cup exit at the hands of League Two outfit Grimsby. Since then, the 20-year-old has largely been restricted to substitute appearances and has featured just 12 times in all competitions this term.
With minutes hard to come by, reports suggest Mainoo is considering a January loan move in search of regular football. Keane, however, dismissed that idea, arguing that battling for his place would be far more valuable than seeking a temporary exit.
"Are you telling me that he can't sit there for another six months? He might think the manager's on his way out in the summer," Keane said on The Overlap's Stick to Football podcast. "He's 20 years of age, what's wrong with sitting and learning your trade? And even if he's not getting a chance, we've all had to do it."

"We shouldn't even dwell on this kind of thing. Sometimes, you're just surrounded by IDIOTS, especially in the family."

Keane also turned his fire on Mainoo-Hames, whose T-shirt sparked backlash on Monday night and only fueled talk that the United youngster is frustrated with his situation at Old Trafford.
"When he’s got his idiot of his brother doing all that stuff - we shouldn’t even be giving his brother the time of day," Keane asserted. "Because sometimes you’re just surrounded by idiots, especially in families."
