
Kenya Police FC announce first signing of off-season transfer window

Reigning FKF Premier League champions Kenya Police FC have completed their first signing of the off-season transfer window after acquiring the services of Sofapaka forward Edward ‘Ondimo’ Omondi for an undisclosed period.
Omondi, 21, becomes the first man to join Etienne Ndayiragije’s side, following a successful campaign that saw them clinch their maiden league championship.

“Forward Edward Omondi joins us from Sofapaka FC. Karibu Ondimo,” Kenya Police said in a brief welcome post on their social media handles on Thursday, 31 July.

The move for Omondi comes after he impressed in his debut season in the Kenyan top-tier, where he emerged as Sofapaka’s top scorer with ten goals and six assists to his name.
The youngster, who also aided Batoto ba Mungu to a seventh-placed finish in the league last season, was well sought after in recent weeks and appears to have bought into the allure of playing continental football next season.
By virtue of winning the league, Kenya Police will at the beginning of the 2025-2026 season feature in the qualifying stages of the CAF Champions League.
Omondi’s signing also comes as part of a visible rebuild at Police, who on Tuesday, 29 July, announced the exit of experienced players including: Kenneth Muguna, Tyson Otieno, Duncan Otieno, and Jesse Were.
Earlier on Thursday, the club also confirmed the departure of midfielder Tim Oyanda, who left the Law Enforcers after half a season.
Omondi, who has formerly played for Dandora Love and the now-defunct Rainbow FC, will possibly link up with his new side after a month, as he is part of the final 25-man Harambee Stars squad that will be playing in the home African Nations Championships (CHAN), scheduled for Saturday, 2 to Saturday, 30 August.
