In a Thursday announcement, the Bomet-based outfit confirmed the appointment of 17 directors who will be tasked with steering the club’s vision, growth, and competitiveness in the FKFPL.
The unveiling marks a significant milestone for the disciplined forces-backed side, which is keen to establish itself among the country’s football elites.
At the helm of the board is Dr. and Bishop Fred Akama, who assumes the role of chairman. Akama brings with him vast experience from his tenure at Kenya Police FC, where he oversaw a remarkable transformation of the club, guiding them to back-to-back domestic cup successes.
Under his stewardship, Police lifted the Mozzart Bet Cup in 2024 before clinching last season’s FKF Premier League crown.
Supporting him in the leadership structure will be Vuldan Kibet, a customer experience manager at Access Bank Kenya, who takes the position of vice-chairman.
Leonard Cheruyiot Mutai, an accountant with the County Government of Bomet, will serve as treasurer, while businesswoman Gladys Martha Yapha takes the deputy treasurer’s role.
Chief Inspector Rose Chemutai, who doubles up as the club’s chief executive officer, assumes the role of board secretary, assisted by Festus Kiptoo Korir as vice-secretary.
Among the notable figures joining the board are sporting icons and national heroes. Harambee Stars defender Eric “Marcelo” Ouma, who plies his trade with Polish giants Raków Częstochowa, has been named as one of the directors.
He is joined by three-time Olympic champion and world record holder Faith Kipyegon, alongside Africa’s fastest man and Commonwealth Games 100m gold medalist Ferdinand Omanyala.
Their presence adds a powerful blend of inspiration and global recognition to APS Bomet’s leadership.
The diverse composition of the board extends beyond sports personalities. Other members include Interior Ministry Principal Secretary Bervelyn Opwora, celebrated gospel artist Evelyn Wanjiru, and high-ranking security officers such as Lazarus S. Opicho, the SAIGC commandant of the Government and VIP Protection Unit, and AIG Ibrahim R. Omar, in charge of sports and chaplaincy.
Also named were Robert Kiplangat Korir, Bomet County Registrar; Nation Media Group editor Nicholas Wambua; High Court advocate Edwin Ruto; and AbdulQadir Lorot, a Chief Magistrate with the Judiciary.
In their unveiling statement, APS Bomet highlighted that the board’s key mandate is to provide strategic direction, enhance professionalism, and build a sustainable football culture. The club has set itself an ambitious target of winning the FKF Premier League title within four years.
“Introducing our 17 Board of Management Directors. One united board, one shared vision — to grow APS Bomet FC to the highest level and, within four years, bring home the FKF Premier League title,” the club posted.
APS Bomet secured promotion to the FKFPL last season after finishing second behind champions Nairobi United, who went on to also clinch the Mozzart Bet Cup.
