According to the FIFA boss, the move is also aimed at ensuring the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Canada, the USA and Mexico, is as inclusive as possible
Kenyan clubs will be among the beneficiaries of the millions of shillings set aside by FIFA for outfits that had their players feature in both the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and finals.
On Tuesday, 16 September, the body announced the implementation of the enhanced FIFA Club Benefits Program (CBP) for the 2026 edition of the men's competition, totalling $355 million (approximately Ksh45.8 billion).

Initially, only the European Clubs Association (ECA), through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FIFA, signed in March 2023, were receiving the financial compensation.
However, for the first time since the inception of CBP, FIFA have expanded to allow every club, whose players feature directly in either the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers or the finals receive a share of the solidarity fund.
With the new approach, each club that releases a player will directly benefit from the funds, whether the player plays in the final tournament or not.
The move is aimed at increasing the solidarity to provide a fairer and more inclusive redistribution to football clubs across the globe.
“The enhanced edition of the FIFA Club Benefits Programme for the FIFA World Cup 2026 is going a step further by recognizing financially the huge contribution that so many clubs and their players around the world make to the staging of both the qualifiers and the final tournament,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
According to the FIFA boss, the move is also aimed at ensuring the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Canada, the USA and Mexico, is as inclusive as possible.
“A record USD 355 million will be distributed to clubs for the release of their players, and this reinforces our solid collaboration with the European Club Association and clubs worldwide as we all look forward to a groundbreaking and globally inclusive edition of the FIFA World Cup next year,” he added
However, FIFA announced that the model that will be used for the CBP distribution will be communicated in due course.
