Harper, who was born in Kenya to Kenyan parents, is one of eight players the Grecians announced on Monday, 6 May, will be leaving at the end of their current contracts.

Other players on the ‘players out of contract and departing’ list include: Cheick Diabate, Max Edgecombe, Mitch Beardmore, Gabe Billington, Shaun McDonald, Angus MacDonald and Ben Purrington.

Harper, 24, joined Exeter in July 2023, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal that officially comes to an end on 30 June.

During his spell in League One, Harper, who got his maiden Harambee Stars call up in October 2023, played in different positions, but mainly made his mark as a left wing-back, bombing forward and retreating to join his team’s three-man defense.

In his first season at Exeter, the Kenyan played 31 games in all competitions while scoring once.

But in what turned out to be an injury-curtailed season this term, Harper only played 22 matches, scoring once, and assisting once.

So good was his goal against Oxford, that it made the final shortlist of club goal of the season.

Harper’s last appearance for Gary Caldwell’s side came in a 3-1 defeat to Crawley Town on 21 April, and was missing from the squad as Exeter lost out 3-0 to Mansfield in the final game of the season last weekend.

Prior to joining Exeter, Harper had featured for England’s National League side Eastleigh for two seasons.

His other previous club was Bristol City, which loaned him out on multiple occasions to their development side, Gloucester and Bath.
