Tormenta will play Forward Madison in their next game
Former Gor Mahia defensive midfielder Tobias Otieno was missing in action when his side, Tormenta, fell 3-2 to Charlotte Independence in a USL League Two game played at the American Legion Memorial Stadium on Sunday morning.
The result saw Tormenta suffer second defeat in the hands Charlotte Independence in the 2023 USL League One regular season as the team had lost 3-1 in the first meeting between the two sides on March 25, 2023.
It is not clear why Otieno was overlooked in the game as he has been instrumental for Tormenta this season to the extend that, he was nominated for the player of the month four times.
Charlotte Independence took the lead in the eighth minute through Liberian Joel Johnson with Miguel Angel doubling the advantage in the 20th minute.
Tormenta pulled one back through Mukwelle Akale in the 23rd minute but efforts to level matters suffered a blow in the 43rd minute after Nicholas Spielman netted the third goal for the host.
Pedro Fonseca scored the second goal for Tormenta in the 64th minute from the spot.
Tormenta will shift their attention to a home matchup against Forward Madison set to be played at the Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium.
Otieno joined Tormenta in February last year from from fellow USL One side, Union Omaha.
