Local and foreign clubs scrambling for Otanga's signature

Last season’s FKF Premier League top scorer Derrick Otanga has revealed that a host of local and foreign clubs have reached out to him and are keen on acquiring his services on the Bosman rule.

The striker, who found the back of the net 16 times last season is currently a free agent after parting ways with Libyan club, Al-Ittihad Misrata SC.

He cut ties with Misurata four months into his one-year deal and is now back home as he plots his next career move.

An unnamed FKF Premier League clubs and some from outside the country have already reached out to the player with an intention to sign him.

In an interview with Mozzart Sport, the attacker revealed that he is in talks with a number of clubs over a possible transfer and hopes to have a clearer way forward in the next few weeks.

“Teams from in and outside the country have already reached out and I can say we are in talks and at this point I do not want to go into much details. Nothing has been agreed on yet but there is progress and in the next few days or weeks I will make my next home known but as of now, there is nothing much to talk about,” he stated.

Asked if he would have a problem with returning to the FKF Premier League after a stint outside the country, the striker was quick to dismiss the notion saying he is very much willing to grace Kenya’s top-flight league again.

“I have no problem playing in KPL or outside the country. For me the goal is to be back enjoying what I love most which is playing football. I want to play week in week out again and that is why I want my future sorted as soon as possible,” he added.

Otanga played for Sony Sugar, Wazito FC and KCB before moving to Libya.
