AFC Leopards midfielder Boniface Munyendo cannot wait to battle it out against his former midfield partner Kevin Juma when Ingwe comes up against Gor Mahia on Saturday afternoon at the Moi Kasarani Stadium.

Munyendo joined Ingwe as one of the marquee signings of the Tom Juma era whereas Kevin made a switch to K’Ogallo in one of the most exciting transfers of the last window. The two players turned out for Nzoia Sugar FC in the last few seasons.

The scoring midfielder netted six times for the Millers last season, further escalating the Leopards interest in his services. Ingwe had to beat competition from Kakamega Homeboyz, Ulinzi Stars and KCB to bring him to the den.

Despite being excited at the prospect of playing in his first ever Mashemeji Derby, the former Vihiga Bullets man is pleased at the fact he will have to jostle with his former comrade at the heart of the field.

He further says that it is a dream come true for him to don the famous white and blue jersey in such a high-stakes match as it is every Kenyan footballer dream to take part in the derby.

"I am happy for the upcoming Mashemeji Derby; it is a dream come true, as I have always wanted to play in front of such a huge crowd putting on the Ingwe jersey," said the former National Super League midfielder of the season.

"Facing Juma at the center of the field will be interesting and awkward at the same time, we have played together for two seasons and made ourselves a name. It is going to be tough seeing him in different colors at the same time appealing for all of us as our dreams are finally realized," he added.

The midfielder who has played each of the Leopards matches this season, is upbeat that his new side will silence their archrivals and mark an end to Ingwe’s false start to the season.

He further urged the club supporters to turn out in big numbers to cheer them towards their first win of the campaign.

"To the fans come and support us, we are going to get the work done for you. We are also hurt by the slow start to the season but we are determined to turn around our fortunes. It is no longer time to wait but time to act," he concluded.

Leopards will take on their rivals on Saturday in a highly anticipated match set for Moi International Stadium, Kasarani.
