The successful candidate will be tasked with transforming the club’s fortunes from relegation battlers to title contenders.

FKF Premier League side Mathare United have outlined the requirements for candidates eyeing the club’s vacant head coach position.

The Slum Boys have been without a substantive coach since parting ways with John Kamau on 11 May at the height of the relegation battle.

The 2008 FKF Premier League champions later appointed Kamau’s assistant, Mohamed Mchulla, on an interim basis to steer the team until the end of the season.

Mchulla successfully delivered on his main objective, ensuring Mathare United retained their top-flight status.

With that short-term goal achieved, Mathare United have now advertised the position, detailing strict requirements for applicants.

According to the advertisement, candidates must have coached in a top tier league or a national team for at least 10 years with a proven record of success, including winning league titles, cups, or other major competitions.

Applicants are also required to attach copies of their coaching licences and certificates, with a CAF A Licence or its equivalent being the minimum requirement under FKF Premier League and club licensing regulations.

To replace Kamau, candidates must further demonstrate strong leadership, communication and player management skills.

In addition, applicants are expected to show experience in talent identification and development as well as high levels of integrity and commitment to community service.

The advertisement also states that the club will offer a competitive salary, an opportunity to work in an ambitious setup, a supportive environment with a clear vision, and a platform to make a lasting impact both on and off the pitch.

Interested candidates are required to submit a detailed curriculum vitae CV and a cover letter outlining their coaching philosophy and achievements on or before Monday, 8 June, to [email protected].

The successful candidate will be tasked with transforming the club’s fortunes from relegation battlers to title contenders.
