Mbappe's first-half brace puts Madrid back to La Liga summit

He's finally back on track. Arsenal should be worried

Real Madrid are back at the top of La Liga, at least for 24 hours, after a 2-1 away win over Villarreal.

Los Blancos celebrated a victory thanks to Kylian Mbappe's brace, who helped the visitors to come from behind against the Yellow Submarine.

The hosts deservedly got in front within the opening eight minutes, as Juan Foyth poked the ball past Thibaut Courtois from close range following Juan Baena's corner.

However, Madrid's response was brutal and almost instant.

Kylian Mbappe restored the stalemate less than ten minutes later, rebounding superbly on Brahim Diaz's denied effort.

Just a couple of minutes later, the Frenchman completed that furious comeback. It was one of those Mbappe's trademark goals, curling it into the right side of Conde's goal.

Villarreal did their best to clinch at least a draw after the break, but Real Madrid survived all the pressure and returned to the top. Still, they will be knocked back down if there is a winner in Sunday's showdown clash between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona at the Wanda Metropolitano.
