Otieno, who has been with Migori Youth Talent Academy (MYTA) ,the youth side of Migori Youth since the age of nine, has risen steadily through the ranks, honing his skills within the club’s structured and school development system.
His progression has been marked by rare qualities that have now earned him a rare opportunity on the European stage.
The 17-year-old midfielder is set to spend one month with the Spanish side, a period during which he will be closely assessed.
Should he impress, Otieno stands a strong chance of securing a permanent place within the club’s academy, a move that would significantly boost his long-term development.
In a heartfelt message shared on their official platforms, the promotion chasing side highlighted both pride and optimism as the young midfielder prepares for the journey ahead.
“Last night after training, we held a brief farewell and prayer session for our academy midfielder Allan Shadrack Otieno as he prepares to travel next week for trials with Spanish side SD Huesca’s academy.
Allan joined MYTA at the age of 9 and has grown through the ranks while balancing both school and football.
He later joined St. Anthony’s Kitale where he has continued to develop.
We are proud to see him take this step and wish him all the best in his trials.
We also thank St. Anthony’s Kitale for helping secure this opportunity.” the communication read.
Currently a fourth-year student at Western region football powerhouse side St. Anthony’s Boys High School Kitale, Otieno becomes the latest player from the club to earn trials abroad, further reinforcing Migori Youth’s commitment to nurturing talent capable of competing at the highest level.
The latest development follows a growing list of success stories linked to the club.
In May 2023, youthful attacker Elly Owande secured trials with Al-Nasr SC in the United Arab Emirates.
The former Kenya U-20 striker went on to earn a deal with the Dubai-based side, where he continued his development before returning to Kenya to join record FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia during the mid-season transfer window.
Elsewhere, Harambee Stars midfielder Ben Stanley Omondi, currently on loan with record league leaders Gor mahia from Migori Youth, also secured trials with Italian side US Castrovillari Calcio.
However, the move ultimately failed to materialize due to visa complications.
