Monaco upset mighty PSG and do Marseille a favour

The Saints played yet another mediocre Ligue 1 game, lost 1-0 to Les Monegasques, and put their top spot at risk, as L'OM could leapfrog them if they beat Toulouse at home tonight

This time, there's no escape! Often did Paris Saint-Germain recently score winners in added time - most lately against Olympique Lyon and Nice - but today, there was no such luck, as Monaco brushed them aside at Stade Louis II - 1-0!

Sebastien Pocognoli's men were brave, dedicated, and without a detrimental respect for the stronger rival, and it eventually paid off.

During the first half, Monaco threatened twice - over Takumi Minamino and defender Mohammed Salisu, who even scored, but the goal did not stand due to offside.

On the other hand, the Parisians seemed mild and needed too much time to wake up, which eventually backfired.

The decisive moment occurred in the 68th minute. One long through-ball for Aleksandr Golovin caught PSG's defence unprepared, the Russian crossed it in for Minamino, who perfectly found Lucas Chevalier's bottom-left corner, causing immense joy among the ecstatic home fans.

Only after conceding, Luis Enrique's men realized that things had gotten serious and that they were about to lose. However, it was too late.

They only managed to create one chance for the indisposed Ousmane Dembele, who wasted it by missing the target, and neither their former player and Monaco captain Thilo Kehrer's dismissal ten minutes before the end, nor the seven-minute added time, helped them avoid their second Ligue 1 defeat of the season.

Now, Marseille are in control of the situation again. If they beat Toulouse tonight (23.05), they'll leapfrog the Saints and once again rule Ligue 1 from the top spot.
