The 67-year-old Avram Grant is apparently ready to take over the vacant position as the previous coach Aljosa Asanovic left after only nine months in charge

The man who led Chelsea in that notorious 2008 Champions League final against Manchester United and Ghana in the 2015 AFCON showdown against Ivory Coast is ready for the next challenge.

After losing both those finals after penalty shootouts, Avram Grant, 67, is hoping that his next job with the Zambian national team will see him finally winning a title, with or without the necessary drama.

As per Ghanasoccernet, Grant landed in Zambia's capital Lusaka on Wednesday ahead of his appointment as the new head coach of the Copper Bullets.

The Israeli will replace Croatian tactician Aljosa Asanovic, who resigned in September 2022 after being in charge for only nine months.

Grant's main target will be to guide Zambia to the 2023 AFCON scheduled for January 2024 in Ivory Coast.

Grant has been jobless since September 2018. During his 50-year-long coaching career, he has sat in the dugouts of several top Israeli clubs, their national team, Chelsea (after Jose Mourinho's exit in 2007), West Ham, Portsmouth, Partizan Belgrade, and Ghana.
