Leopards will be eager to end a nine-year trophy drought, having last lifted the cup in 2017 with a 2-1 victory over three-time winners Sofapaka.
Following a thrilling opening day of the 2026 Mozzart Bet Cup, where FKF Premier League sides dominated to book their places in the Round of 32, attention now turns to Sunday’s fixtures on February 16 as teams battle for the remaining slots.
The headline clash will see ten-time winners AFC Leopards take on BB Bread.
Leopards will be eager to end a nine-year trophy drought, having last lifted the cup in 2017 with a 2-1 victory over three-time winners Sofapaka.
Recent history has been unkind to Ingwe. In 2025, their campaign ended prematurely in the Round of 32 when their clash against Mara Sugar was abandoned in the 89th minute due to crowd trouble, with the match later awarded to Mara Sugar.
Their last close call came in 2024, when a semifinal clash against Kenya Police at Police Sacco Stadium was abandoned in the 60th minute and subsequently awarded to Police, who went on to win the cup.
Their opponents, Nairobi East Regional League outfit BB Bread, have built a reputation as giant killers in the Mozzart Bet Cup.
Coach Fred Ambani will be determined to avoid an upset as his side seeks to continue their domestic double ambitions this season.
At Wanguru Stadium, four-time winners Tusker FC will face Mwea United as they aim to end a ten-year cup drought.
The Brewers last lifted the trophy in 2016 with a 1-0 triumph over Ulinzi Stars.
Speaking ahead of the match, Tusker coach Charles Okere emphasized the importance of the competition, stating that his side is going all out for the title.
“The cup is a very important trophy for us, and it is one we are determined to win this season. Every match is a final. In cup football, there are no big or small teams. Every game is decisive.”
Tusker’s recent cup campaigns have produced mixed results.
They were eliminated in the Round of 16 in 2024 by Kakamega Homeboyz 1 0 and in 2025 by Nairobi United on penalties 5 4. Their closest near miss came in 2023, when they lost 1-0 to Kakamega Homeboyz in the final.
Mwea United, however, arrive with nothing to lose and the ambition to cause an upset, something Tusker will be keen to avoid.
At Ulinzi Sports Complex, two-time winners Bandari FC will face Githurai All Stars.
The Mombasa-based side is eager to end a seven-year drought, having last won the cup in 2019 with a 3 1 victory over Kariobangi Sharks.
The return of title-winning coach Bernard Mwalala could provide the spark to guide Bandari to a third crown, although they will face a determined FKF Division Two side eager to spring an early surprise.
Bandari’s best recent run came in 2023, when they were eliminated 3 0 by AFC Leopards in the quarter finals.
At Sudi Stadium in Bungoma, KCB will take on Compel SC in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
The 2024 finalists, under veteran coach Robert Matano, who has previously won the cup with World Hope in 2005 and AFC Leopards in 2017, are on a mission to secure their first top flight silverware.
Compel SC, a Webuye-based outfit, have earned a reputation as giant killers after eliminating FKF Premier League side Mara Sugar in 2024 and reaching the quarter finals.
With both sides chasing glory, this match is expected to be closely contested.
At Ndura Sports Complex in Kitale, Mara Sugar will face Wisdom Soccer FC.
The 2025 semi finalists will be aiming to go one better this season.
Coach Edward Manoah’s charges will be keen to avoid a slip-up against the lesser-known Wisdom side as they pursue their first Mozzart Bet Cup title.
At Eldoret Showground, high-flying Shabana FC will take on Commons FC.
The Kisii-based side, backed by a passionate fan base, is still searching for its first major trophy.
Having reached the Round of 16 in the last three editions, coach Peter Okidi and his squad will be aiming to go further this time.
Commons FC, meanwhile, will be hoping to capitalize on any mistakes to pull off a shock result.
