With league success looking unlikely this season, the Nick Mwendwa-backed side will be banking on the cup to revive their hopes of returning to continental football.

After exciting matches on Friday, 6 March and Saturday, 7 March , the Mozzart Bet Cup Round of 32 concludes today, Sunday, March 8, with eight tantalising matches lined up across different venues.

Kenyan giants Gor Mahia will face BB Bread, defending champions Nairobi United take on BMC Allstars, Kakamega Homeboyz play Kipchimchim FC, Posta Rangers meet Oinopsos, while Murang’a Seal battle FC Dynamo.

Elsewhere, Kariobangi Sharks will tussle with KU Hardnuts FC, Chebaiywa Lions lock horns with Gucha Youth FC, while Kuta Collections face KSG Ogopa.

Gor Mahia vs BB Bread

Kenyan giants Gor Mahia will face BB Bread at the Nyayo National Stadium from 1500 hrs in what is today’s biggest highlight.

K’Ogalo qualified for the Round of 32 after eliminating Dero FC 2-0, while BB Bread stole the show in the Round of 64 by beating AFC Leopards 4-3 on post-match penalties after a 2-2 draw in regular time.

The fifth-tier side had raced into a 2-0 lead before Leopards equalised, but the Kenyan giants failed to make it count in the penalty shootout.

Having eliminated AFC Leopards, BB Bread will head into the match with confidence and purpose as they attempt to stage yet another upset in the competition.

Gor Mahia, on the other hand, are wary of the Nairobi Regional League side and will be keen to assert their dominance and avoid the embarrassment suffered by their arch-rivals.

BMC Allstars vs Nairobi United

Having enjoyed the fruits of last season’s Mozzart Bet Cup triumph, Nairobi United are even more determined to succeed in the 2026 edition and will face BMC Allstars in the Round of 32.

Naibois won the 2025 edition while still playing in the National Super League (NSL), eliminating several top-tier sides, including a 2-1 victory over Gor Mahia in the final.

The team later qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup, where they impressed again by reaching the group stage.

To reach the Round of 32, BMC Allstars secured a 1-0 victory over RAVS and will be hoping to spring a surprise against Naibois.

Speaking ahead of the match, Nairobi United defender Yusuf Mainge expressed caution.

“We know it will be a tough game because they are a local Nairobi team that we have never played against, but we are ready for them,” said Mainge.

The former Gor Mahia defender also revealed the team’s ambitions in the competition.

“Having won the cup last season and reached the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, playing continental football every season is now part of the team’s resolve.

We also know that our triumph made lower-tier teams believe they can do it, which is good for the game,” he added.

His sentiments were echoed by assistant coach Sadique Ambani, who understands the challenge of defending their title.

“We are focused and prepared for the match like we always do. We are targeting victory that will take us to the next level and are therefore taking the match very seriously as we did last season.

We will be up against a team we have never seen play, but we will focus on playing like the champions that we are,” said Ambani.

Kakamega Homeboyz vs Kipchimchim FC

2023 champions Kakamega Homeboyz will welcome Division One side Kipchimchim FC from Kericho at Bukhungu Stadium from 1400 hrs.

Homeboyz qualified for this stage after thrashing Amani Youth 5-1, while Kipchimchim secured a 3-1 victory over Plantech FC.

Homeboyz are favourites for the match but must remain cautious, as the cup has produced numerous shock results against top-tier teams.

Kariobangi Sharks vs KU Hardnuts FC

Kariobangi Sharks will be aiming for a win over KU Hardnuts FC when the two sides clash at Kasarani Stadium from 1500 hrs.

With league success looking unlikely this season, the Nick Mwendwa-backed side will be banking on the cup to revive their hopes of returning to continental football.

Murang’a Seal vs FC Dynamo

At St Sebastian Park in Murang’a, Murang’a Seal will host FC Dynamo from 1500 hrs as coach Osborne Monday angles for his first major title as a top-tier coach.

Other Matches

In other fixtures, Posta Rangers will face Oinopsos at Afraha Stadium from 1400 hrs, Kuta Collections take on KSG Ogopa at the Kasarani Annex from 1300 hrs, while Chebaiywa Lions host Gucha Youth at the Eldoret Showground, also from 1300 hrs.
