Police are also set to lose their fast-rising midfielder Mohamed Bajaber who is reportedly on the verge of joining Tanzania's Simba SC

Kenya Police FC have confirmed the departure of the trio of Kenneth Muguna, Duncan Otieno, and Jesse Were.

In a statement posted on their official Facebook page, the reigning FKF Premier League champions expressed gratitude to the three experienced players, who helped the club land the league title last season.

Otieno, rejoined the Law Enforcers at the start of 2024 during the mid-season transfer window after a brief spell with Gaborone United of Botswana.

"Thank you, Duncan Otieno’s second stint with us comes to an end. We thank the midfielder for his commitment and contribution to the club, and we wish him all the best in his next chapter," the club posted.

Otieno initially signed for Kenya Police in August 2022 on a one-year deal, before making a move to the Botswana Premier League in June 2023.

His return to Police in early 2024 proved impactful, as he helped the club to back-to-back domestic silverware.

The former AFC Leopards captain played a crucial role in Police's historic 2023/24 campaign, guiding the side to their maiden Mozzart Bet Cup title following a dramatic 9-8 post-match penalty win over KCB.

Although used sparingly in the recently concluded 2024/25 season, Otieno still played his part in helping the club lift its first-ever FKF Premier League title.

Otieno has also featured for Posta Rangers, and Zambian top-flight sides Lusaka Dynamos and Nkana FC.

Muguna, on the other hand, joined Police FC from Tanzanian outfit Azam FC in July 2023 on a year-long deal.

The club would extend his contract by another year following his impressive performances.

Just like Otieno, Muguna played a crucial role in the club's back-to-back major titles.

The former Gor Mahia skipper has been linked with a move outside the country.

Meanwhile, Police have also parted ways with seasoned striker Jesse Jackson Were.

The former FKF Premier League 'Golden Boot' winner exits after the expiry of his one-year contract.

Were joined Police at the start of the 2024/25 season from ZESCO United, where he enjoyed a decorated spell, including four Super League titles, 'Golden Boot' award, and Zesco player of the year accolade in 2017.

His time at Police culminated in another landmark achievement—clinching his maiden FKF Premier League title.

"Farewell, King Jesse. Jesse Were departs the club after a successful season, signing off as a league champion. We thank Jesse for his professionalism, dedication, and impact during his time with us. Wishing him all the best in his future endeavours,” read the club’s farewell post.

The departure of Otieno, Muguna, and Were brings the number of offseason exits at Kenya Police to four.

The duo joins former Kariobangi Sharks playmaker Tyson Otieno in leaving the club.

The club is also set to lose fast-rising attacker Mohamed Bajaber, who is on the verge of joining Tanzanian heavyweights Simba SC.
