The match provides a platform for local based players to prove a point to Mulee before foreign based players jet it
The last time a Harambee Stars team purely constituted by local-based players took to the pitch, the results were simply unpalatable. The team lost 4-1 on post-match penalties to Tanzania in August 2019 at the Kasarani Stadium in a 2020 Chan second leg qualifier match.
Kenya had reaped a barren draw in the first leg staged at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium but failed to build on it and put Taifa Stars to the sword at Kasarani.
The defeat would claim Sebastien Migne's scalp in the same month leaving Francis Kimanzi to take over the reins.
The team, under the tutelage of Jacob ' Ghost' Mulee has a perfect opportunity to atone for the big loss when they confront South Sudan on Saturday at the Nyayo Stadium.
Our Stars are all set for their first friendly match of the year against South Sudan.

Mulee has backed the local players to dim the Bright Stars and gain confidence ahead of their reunion with Tanzania.
Stars will tackle Tanzania in Nairobi on March 15 and 18.
“It is my hope to attain a positive result owing to the fact that the team in the camp is made up of active local-based players playing in the top tier league,” said coach Mulee.
Mulee who returned to the team in November last year after ten years in the cold will however miss the services of the influential KCB midfielder Michael Mutinda who is injured.
