Kenya Police FC head coach Nicholas Muyoti has expressed strong belief that his side can go all the way and reclaim the Mozzart Bet Cup they last won in 2024, as he turned focus firmly on the semi-final challenge ahead.

Muyoti, speaking after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Shabana FC at Gusii Stadium that sealed their place in the last four, was clear about his ambition and mindset heading into the decisive stages of the competition.

“The teams that have remained in this tournament are good, but our immediate focus is the semi-final against Bandari FC. Our focus is to beat Bandari and qualify for the final.

The win against Shabana shows our intention to lift the title,” said Muyoti in an interview with the Star.

He reinforced the same message on belief and ambition, stressing the value of experience in knockout football.

“My boys know the meaning of lifting this tournament. We must work extra hard. Playing at the continental level is a good opportunity for players and coaches to market themselves,” he noted.

Despite the confidence, Muyoti did not shy away from acknowledging the challenge his side faced against Shabana, praising their discipline, especially in the closing stages.

“It was not an easy game. We scored from a free kick in the first half, and in the second half, the boys defended well and contained Shabana’s attacks,” he said.

He also raised concerns over the playing conditions at Gusii Stadium, which were heavily affected by rain, making the pitch difficult to navigate in the second half.

Muyoti further admitted that the FKF Premier League title is now out of reach for his side, shifting full attention to cup success.

The quarter-final clash itself was decided by a moment of quality from captain Aboud Omar, whose 41st-minute free kick proved the difference in a tightly contested encounter.

Kenya Police had started brightly, with Erick Zakayo narrowly missing with a header from Omar’s set piece early on.

Shabana responded strongly through Kevin Omundi and Brian Michira, with the latter forcing a fine save from Daniel Ogembo after a powerful free kick.

The hosts also came close through George Orako, who headed over from close range.

However, Kenya Police remained dangerous on the counterattack and showed resilience after taking the lead, managing the game effectively through the second half to secure qualification.

Shabana interim coach Osborne Monday, meanwhile, conceded defeat and shifted focus to the league.

“Our target now is to win all our remaining matches and finish higher than last season. I’m happy the players have embraced my philosophy,” he said. On the loss, he added, “They got their goal and managed the game well. We tried to push forward, but it did not work.”
