Nervous, angry and overpaid: Spoiled Parisian stars letting the title slip

Paris Saint-Germain don't deserve to retain the Ligue 1 crown
Paris Saint-Germain dressing room isn't a great place these days. When results aren't as good as everyone expects, all sorts of cracks begin to show. Paris are second in the table behind LOSC Lille with only two matchdays left. After their latest disappointing draw at Rennes, the Saints no longer depend on their own results. They need Saint-Etienne and Angers to do them favours and beat league leaders.
It's a sad state of affairs for Mauricio Pochettino and his money-fuelled team.
Paris' Brazilian captain Marquinhos called for his teammates to try and snatch the title, but what's even more important – to improve their team spirit. Too many times, they allowed leads to slip. It's a sign of inconsistency that should not happen with players of such high class. There is something deeply wrong there.
"It's football, but we realise that we have to do better when we see the results this season. We lost games that we shouldn't. We lost too many points at home, and it hurts us in the end. During the next week, we will have to talk. Because when you're at PSG, it's unacceptable to let points go like that. One, two, three times - it's starting to happen a lot. It's not our best season. We weren't solid, and we have to do a lot better. We need to talk to each other for next season."
Frustration was apparent for everyone to see during the final stages of Paris's disappointing draw at Rennes on Sunday night. Three minutes before the end of the game, Presnel Kimpembe was sent off for a dangerous lunge on Jeremy Doku. As he was making his way down the tunnel, Kimpembe was overheard shouting "Bunch of sh*ts", presumably to the Rennes team.

As a result, Kimpembe may be handed a three-match ban for the combination of the sending off and his lack of respect towards the hosts. What a stupid way to end the season prematurely!
To add another layer of misery for PSG fans, they are watching their team trail behind a side assembled from a bunch of budget recruits and free agents. Their top scorer Burak Yilmaz was a free signing at the start of the season. Not to mention that Paris players earn more in a month than Lille earn in a year. On average, a Paris player makes $1,000,000 a month, which is by far the highest in the league. Lille players, on the other hand, are only the ninth-highest paid team in the division. Their average weekly wage is around $75,000 per month, approximately 13 times less than the team that's currently three points below them in the standings.
But it's not all doom and gloom in the City of Lights. Despite a less than convincing start to his managerial tenure at Parc des Princes, Pochettino still enjoying total support from the club. A clear indication of the confidence the Argentine enjoys is the fact that midfielder Julian Draxler's contract was extended on Pochettino's request. With the news of Neymar's contract extension until 2025, there will be an able team to fight for the title next season.
As for this one… Well, it's up to LOSC Lille.
