The tactician has worked with a number of top flight clubs including;Mathare, Ulinzi and Posta Rangers

Former Mathare United coach Salim Ali believes the requirement for local coaches handling Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) to have a CAF ‘A’ license will create respect for the tacticians.

Ali who is now a CAF instructor says clubs will now have no choice but to adhere to certain standards when appointing coaches.

“If you ask me, it is a good idea and it shows we have made progress in our football. Today, if a club sacks a CAF ‘A’ licensed coach they have to hire a coach with the same qualification.

“Previously, a club would sack a CAF ‘A’ coach and hire one with a CAF ‘C’ license. It is very disrespectful to the profession but now that has been sorted,” he said.

Ali also revealed that he will soon be back to the touchline and is negotiating with a number of clubs.

“I will be back soon on the touchline but any club that wants to sign me must come up with reasonable terms. I ouldn’t want to sign a one-year contract unless I come with completely new players. My ideal would be to get atleast a two-year contract so that I will have time to be able to perform,” he said.

Ali left Mathare United in 2021 after a poor string of results. He afterwards joined Posta Rangers before going back to his role as an instructor with Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
