The Scandinavians celebrated a 6-0 win, while New Zealand were held to a goalless draw by Switzerland

Switzerland and Norway are off to the knockout stage of the FIFA Women's World Cup after the decisive Group A games played on Sunday morning. The Swiss girls topped the group with five points after grabbing a goalless draw against the hosts. Unlike them, those 0-0 proved devastating for New Zealand, who are out of the competition due to a goal difference, as they were equalled with Norway with four points each.

However, the Scandinavians bulldozed the Philippines 6-0 to reach a much better goal difference (6-1) than the home team (1-1).

Norway were ruthless against the minnows, scoring three goals in each half to seal this larger-than-life victory, celebrating it ecstatically in tears.

New Zealand are the first-ever Women's World Cup hosts (or co-hosts) to go out in the group stages. And it started off so well when they beat Norway on the opening day...

On the other end, after a disappointing introduction to the tournament and two games a without a single goal scored, the girls from Northern Europe netted half a dozen in the ultimate group game, thus reaching the last 16 round.
