3K FC took a significant step toward securing promotion to the Football Kenya Premier League (FKFPL) after registering a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Mully Children Family (MCF) in a mid-week National Super League fixture at Embu Stadium.
The hosts were forced to dig deep against a side coached by their former tactician Francis Chege for the three points.

The breakthrough came in the first half when Mark Kithome confidently converted from the penalty spot after Amir Ndune had been brought down in the build-up.
The goal handed 3K a slender advantage heading into the interval, with the visitors showing glimpses of defensive organization despite falling behind.
Upon resumption, MCF returned with renewed determination, frustrating the hosts for large spells of the second half through a disciplined and compact defensive display.
However, their resistance was eventually broken in the closing stages of the match.
Second-half substitute Javan Njue proved decisive, combining effectively with Kithome, who turned provider, to seal the victory.
The late goal not only secured all three points but also underlined 3K’s attacking depth, with Njue continuing his impressive scoring form to four goals in back-to-back outings.
The result marked a seventh consecutive win for head coach Nicodemus Omsete’s side, extending their unbeaten run to 12 matches.
More importantly, the victory propelled 3K FC back into third position on 62 points, significantly strengthening their promotion credentials.
With the gap to league leaders Migori Youth and second-placed Mombasa United now reduced to just three points, the title race has evolved into a tightly contested three-horse battle, setting up an intriguing finale to the campaign.
For Mully Children Family, the defeat brought an end to their three-match unbeaten run and dealt a major blow to their survival hopes.
Meanwhile, at Eldoret Showground, Fortune Sacco suffered a costly setback in their promotion push after being held to a 1-1 draw by Soy United in another midweek clash.
Following a largely cagey first half, the match sprang to life in the latter stages.
Soy United broke the deadlock in the 77th minute through substitute John Khanda, who applied a composed finish to give the hosts the advantage and seemingly put them on course for victory.
However, Fortune Sacco responded in dramatic fashion late in the game.
A handball by Soy defender Vincent Cliff in the build-up resulted in a penalty, offering the visitors a lifeline.
Michael Maina stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to restore parity and salvage a point.
Despite the late equalizer, the result represents a significant setback for coach Vincent Nyaberi’s side.
Now sitting on 54 points, Fortune remain eight points adrift of the crucial third-place position, leaving their promotion hopes hanging by a thread.
With the season entering its decisive phase, the Kirinyaga based outfit must now secure victories in their remaining fixtures to maintain any realistic chance of ascending to the top flight as any further slip-ups could effectively end their pursuit.
For Soy United, the draw also proved consequential, as it hindered their push for a top-five finish.
They remain ninth on 44 points, with ground still to cover in the closing stages of the campaign.
