The Gilbert Selebwa-coached side were blown apart as Laban Otieno hit a brace, with George Ogutu and Japheth Odoke adding a goal apiece to seal the biggest win of the campaign for the Charles Bruno-trained outfit.
The victory lifts the Harambee Stars captain, Michael Olunga-powered side to fourth on the log, just two points outside the promotion places, and showcased a performance clearly drawn straight from the training ground.
MOFA started the match with sheer determination, eager to build on their improving form after a shaky start to the season.
It did not take long before Nelson Amunga combined beautifully with Otieno, who headed home his fifth goal of the season.
The strike exposed a United backline missing their first-choice goalkeeper, Richard Ebenyo, who was ruled out with an injury.
In midfield, Fredrick Onyango and former AFC Leopards winger Boniface Mukhekhe dominated every blade of the carpet, constantly feeding forwards Kevin Bulimo and Rodgers Ouma, while Kimwanga Kalunga and Reagan Ochieng stood firm at the back.
Their consistent pressure paid off in the 56th minute when the in-form Odoke doubled the advantage.
Ogutu made it 3-0 in the 65th minute before Otieno struck again a minute later to put the result beyond the coastal side.
The win, which is MOFA’s fourth of the campaign, also stretches their unbeaten run to three matches.
The Homa Bay-based side are now fourth with 16 points from ten games, while Mombasa United remain second on 19 points and have now suffered three defeats in ten outings.
Nairobi City Stars 1-1 Nzoia Sugar FC
At Gems Cambridge, Nairobi City Stars were forced to come from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw against Nzoia Sugar FC.
Kick-off was delayed by more than 30 minutes after the visitors were stuck in Nairobi traffic, forcing several players to hop onto boda bodas to reach the match venue in time.
Despite the chaotic arrival, Nzoia were the first to strike with Victor Maliachi scoring in the opening minute.
City Stars, however, fought back, with Timothy Muganda’s second-half goal ensuring Salim Babu’s men took a point from the game.
The draw leaves Nzoia ninth on 13 points after ten matches, while Simba wa Nairobi sit 12th on 11 points with three wins in their opening ten games.
Equity Bank FC 3-1 Mully Children’s Family (MCF)
At Ruaraka Grounds, Equity Bank FC continued their fairytale start to life in the second tier with a convincing 3-1 win over league veterans Mully Children’s Family (MCF).
Barack Wandago, Zambian winger Bevex Kapansa, and former Murang’a Seal forward Rashid Moyo scored for the Bankers, while Awitta Batts netted a consolation for the Ndalani-based side.
The victory, which marks Equity’s fourth in eight games, pushes them to seventh on 14 points, while MCF, who are enduring a tough run, sit 13th with 11 points from ten matches.
