The Naibois head into the match knowing a win could completely reshape their group standings, especially after Azam FC lost 1-0 to Wydad Casablanca on Saturday.
Three points at home would put Nairobi United in a strong position to fight for a place in the knockout round.
Mulee says he has full trust in the team’s technical bench, backing them to deliver a response after their 3-0 loss away to Wydad in Morocco.
“I have confidence that Nairobi United are going to win. They can’t lose all their games in the group,” Mulee said.
The former Tusker and Harambee Stars gaffer praised the coaching team, led by Salim Ali, alongside Nicholas Muyoti and the goalkeeper trainer, Joseph Rutto, saying their experience gives United a real chance on Sunday.
“I know the technical expertise that Salim and Muyoti bring, plus Rutto. I’ve worked with them, and they are top professionals,” he added.
Despite a difficult start to the group stage, Mulee believes Nairobi United are poised for a turnaround, especially with home support behind them.
“They are going to make Kenya proud. I believe this weekend will be a turning point for Nairobi United. They will win at home,” he said.
Mulee, who also previously coached APR in Rwanda, said he is hoping for a United victory not just for national pride but also because continued continental action keeps big games close to Kenyan fans.
He also pointed out the financial incentives at stake.
The Johnson Sakaja-backed outfit has already earned Ksh51 million (USD 400,000) for reaching the group stage after eliminating Étoile Sportive du Sahel in Tunis.
“I want them to win so we can keep watching more continental matches in Kenya. And they have a chance to bring in more money, the more you win, the more you collect,” Mulee said.
Nairobi United have announced that 10 percent of all gate proceeds from Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup clash against AS Maniema Union will go toward supporting the treatment of former Kenya Police FC and KCB FC winger Reagan Otieno

CAF’s new prize money structure has boosted clubs even in early rounds. Nairobi took home USD 50,000 (Ksh6.7 million) from the preliminary stages, something clubs never received in the past.
The winners of the competition will pocket Ksh258.4 million (USD 2 million), with the runners-up taking home Ksh129.2 million (USD 1 million).
If Nairobi United reach the quarterfinals, they will earn an additional Ksh71 million (USD 550,000).
