Attention now shifts to Awendo Green Stadium, where Migori Youth host Luanda Villa in a crucial clash as they seek an immediate return to the top of the table.
Migori head into the encounter in inconsistent form, having managed just one win in their last four matches.
That lone victory came last weekend in a thrilling 4-2 comeback win over Naivas FC, a match in which they came from behind twice.
Prior to that, the Sammy Otulo-coached side had drawn 1-1 with Kabati Youth and suffered back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Nzoia Sugar and Kibera Black Stars.
Luanda Villa, meanwhile, arrive in Awendo with uncertainty hanging over their camp following the departure of head coach Leonard Saleh after the expiry of his contract.
The club moved swiftly to appoint former Mahakama striker Francis Chinjili, who will be taking charge of his first away match in the Super League.
Villa are desperate to avoid a third straight defeat, something they are yet to experience this season.
Their worst run came early in the campaign when they went three matches without a win, recording two losses and a draw. In their most recent outings, Luanda lost 2-1 to Kibera Black Stars before surrendering a 2-0 lead to lose 4-2 against Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) at Mumboha Grounds.
Migori, however, will take confidence from their home form, having remained unbeaten in 10 league matches at Awendo Green Stadium, winning seven and drawing three.
Historically, the fixture has been evenly balanced, with Migori’s 1-0 win in June 2025 the only victory in four meetings, the other three ending in draws.
A win for Migori would restore them to the summit, while victory for Luanda Villa would see them end the weekend in the top half of the table.
3K FC vs Nairobi City Stars
Elsewhere, 3K FC will host Nairobi City Stars at Moi Stadium, Embu.
The Francis Chege-coached side will be eager to return to winning ways after losing their last two matches, while City Stars will be looking to convert three consecutive draws into a victory on a notoriously tricky ground.
Bottom-placed Mwatate United face a tough away trip to SK Grounds in Eldoret to take on eighth-placed Soy United.
Mwatate head coach Evans Mafuta has played down relegation fears, insisting his side remains focused on climbing the table.
“Relegation worries are not on our minds. Our focus is to win all our remaining games and finish in a respectable position,” said Mafuta.
The CAF B-licensed coach added that confidence is high after back-to-back 2-1 wins over Vihiga United and FC Talanta.
“All our second-leg matches will be like finals. We want to keep the momentum,” he noted.
Mwatate sit bottom with 13 points from three wins and four draws, having lost 10 matches. Mafuta, who previously guided APS Bomet to promotion, has overseen a major rebuild, releasing 15 players and planning to bring in an equal number during the current transfer window.
“I retained only 12 players from last year’s squad. Those 12 travelled to Kisumu and beat Vihiga United,” he explained.
The club has already signed goalkeepers Moses Ouma and Derrick Siguna, along with Noah Wanjala, Calvin Maree, and Chris Baraza, with 10 more additions expected.
In other matches, Darajani Gogo will host Fortune Sacco at Ngong Vapor Grounds, Kisumu All Stars welcome MCF at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, while third-placed MOFA will close the day with a tough encounter against Nzoia Sugar.
