At Mwatate Stadium, hosts Mwatate United pulled off one of the standout results of the round, edging table-toppers Migori Youth 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter.

The decisive moment came late in the match when former Sofapaka midfielder Juma Benchoni struck the winner in the dying minutes, sealing a vital victory for the home side.

The result marked a significant boost for Mwatate United’s survival bid, lifting them to 26 points and moving them out of the relegation zone.

Their disciplined and resilient display frustrated Migori throughout, underlining their determination to retain their National Super League status.

For Migori Youth, however, the defeat represents a major setback in their pursuit of league glory and automatic promotion.

Despite remaining at the summit, they failed to capitalize on an opportunity to extend their lead, leaving the door open for close challengers such as Mombasa United to potentially overtake them and create a decisive gap at the top.

Meanwhile, at Gems Cambridge, Nairobi City Stars held Michael Olunga Football Academy to a 1-1 draw in a result that frustrated both sides for different reasons.

MOFA, who are firmly in the promotion mix, squandered a golden opportunity to climb into the top three, a slip that could prove costly as the race tightens.

On the other hand, Nairobi City Stars were left ruing missed chances of their own, as the draw further dented their hopes of securing an immediate return to the FKF Premier League.

The result leaves them trailing significantly behind the promotion contenders, with ground rapidly running out.

Elsewhere, a pulsating six-goal thriller unfolded at Kibiko Grounds in Ngong, where Naivas FC battled to a high-scoring draw against Fortune Sacco.

Despite a spirited performance, Naivas failed to significantly close the gap in the promotion race, moving to 38 points and remaining seven points adrift of the automatic promotion slots.

Fortune Sacco, similarly, will view the result as a missed opportunity.

Sitting on 43 points, they dropped two vital points that could have strengthened their push for promotion, leaving them with work to do in the remaining fixtures.
