Leading up to the game, Villa endured a turbulent week, appealing publicly for assistance to cover travel costs.
It was only on Friday night that the club administrators managed to secure transport.

Once on the pitch, Villa started brightly but wisely adopted a disciplined defensive approach after taking the lead.
Despite repeated attempts, the Jackson Gatheru-coached Talanta side failed to break down Villa’s wall, as the visitors held firm to claim only their second win of the season.
The victory lifts Leonard Saleh’s team to 12th place on the log with seven points, while Talanta remain sixth with nine points.
Naivas 2-1 Soy United
Meanwhile, at the Kenya Institute of Highway Building and Technology (KIHBT), Naivas FC bounced back from two disappointing results with a 2-1 win over Soy United, reclaiming top spot on the table.
Eugene Omondi opened the scoring for Naivas in the 43rd minute, only for Alfred Ratolo to level for Soy United in the 63rd minute.
