Edwin Ouko was the hero for the Kibra-based side, striking late in the second half to hand Gogo their second win of the campaign and condemn the embattled All Stars to the foot of the 20-team table.
The result leaves Otenga winless in five games, having earlier fallen to Kibera Black Stars (1-0) and Migori Youth (2-1) before managing draws against Soy United and Vihiga United.
With just two points from a possible fifteen, their struggles have deepened.
In a game that started on a balanced note, both sides exchanged early spells of possession but failed to threaten either goalkeeper.
Gogo’s midfield trio controlled the tempo, while Kisumu relied on long balls in search of a breakthrough.
The second half saw the hosts come alive, with Wycliffe Otieno and Bruce Odhiambo combining well upfront but lacking the final touch.
Gogo, however, absorbed the pressure and launched swift counterattacks that kept Kisumu’s backline on edge.
The visitors finally broke the deadlock when Ouko pounced on a defensive lapse in the 78th minute to slot home what proved to be the winner.
Despite a late surge from All Stars, Gogo’s defence stood firm to secure maximum points.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Kisumu team manager Rashid Ochieng admitted their struggles stem from financial and preparation challenges.
“We delayed getting a sponsor on board, and when it came, we had already signed players from within. Most of them cannot compete at this level, but we are trying hard to win at least a game this season and get the campaign rolling,” said Ochieng.
Naivas FC 1-1 Kabati Youth
Elsewhere, Naivas FC missed a chance to go top of the table after being held to a 1-1 draw by league newcomers Kabati Youth at the Kenya Institute of Highway Building and Technology grounds.
Vincent Oduor opened the scoring for Kabati before Robert Obaga levelled matters for the Shoppers, who now sit fourth on 11 points, while Kabati remain 18th with three points and are still hunting for their first-ever NSL win.
MOFA 1-1 Soy United
At the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay, Soy United struck late to snatch a 1-1 draw against hosts Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA).
Laban Otieno had given MOFA the lead, but Clinton Ofirah equalised in the 87th minute to rescue a point for Soy.
The result lifts MOFA to sixth on nine points, while Soy sits 14th with five points.
