In the Saturday, 15 November clash held at the Kenya Institute of Building and Highway Technology (KIHBT) in Ngong, red-hot forward Syphas Otieno and Fred Ologi found the back of the net for the league leaders.
Powered by one of Kenya's leading gaming firms, Mozzart Bet, Migori are on a remarkable run, winning six of their opening eight matches, drawing once and losing only once.
Under the guidance of Sammy Otulo Owano, the border club have now won back-to-back games since their narrow 3-2 loss to Equity Bank FC earlier this month.
Their latest victory, coupled with dropped points by closest challengers Mombasa United, has opened a three-point gap at the summit of the standings.
While Migori are thriving, the opposite is true for Nairobi City Stars.
Simba wa Nairobi have now gone five matches without a win, losing four in that stretch.
Salim Babu’s side last tasted victory against Kabati Youth when striker Joshua Amunike scored the solitary goal.
Since then, they have suffered a 3-2 loss to Kibera Black Stars, back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Darajani Gogo and FC Talanta, and a 1-1 draw against Fortune Sacco last weekend.
Saturday's result, their fifth defeat of the campaign, leaves them 14th on the 20-team log with seven points.
Kisumu All Stars 2-0 Mombasa United
After seven rounds of unsuccessful attempts, Kisumu All Stars finally registered their maiden win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Mombasa United at Moi Stadium.
Despite coming in as favourites, having lost only once before this fixture, Mombasa were stunned by the Billy Agai-coached side.
Wycliffe Opuro and Emmanuel Otieno scored the crucial goals, ending All Stars’ six-game winless run.
The defeat denied Mombasa the chance to go top of the table, allowing Migori Youth to stretch their lead to three points after eight rounds.
The win lifts Kisumu All Stars off the bottom, now sitting 19th with five points.
Gucha Stars 2-1 Nzoia Sugar
At Gusii Stadium, newcomers Gucha Stars shocked previously unbeaten Nzoia Sugar with a 2-1 win, handing the Millers their first defeat of the season.
Nzoia, who started the day as the only unbeaten side in the league, fell behind to goals from Vincent Nyabuto and Duke Kurio.
Obed Khakina pulled one back, but Gucha held firm for a memorable victory.
Nzoia now drop to eighth with eight points, while Gucha move to 11th on seven points.
MOFA 2–1 Fortune Sacco
At Mamboleo Stadium in Kisumu, Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Fortune Sacco.
Laban Otieno netted his fourth goal of the season to give MOFA the lead before Joseph Bate sealed the result. Henry Gachoki grabbed a consolation for Fortune.
