The Burkina Faso international joined the Law Enforcers in the mid-season transfer window from USFA Ouagadougou and has since established himself as one of the most prolific forwards in the league.
The 26-year-old once again showcased his class and quality when he rose highest to clinically head home an Abud Omar free kick into the back of the net to guarantee Police a 1-0 victory over Tusker FC in their last match.
Speaking after the match, the smiling assassin revealed the secret to his remarkable form in the Kenyan top-tier.
“It is due to teamwork. I get a lot of support from my teammates both in training and in matches. I equally push myself in training, work hard, and that makes it easier to score in matches. My target is to win the Golden Boot,” said Koutiama.
Having been in the country for about three months, Koutiama also took time to disclose his impression of the Kenyan top-flight.
“Kenya has a good league and good players who prefer to keep the ball and enjoy possession,” he stated.
With Koutiama experiencing a language barrier, he has largely been relying on fellow new signing Hernest Malonga to translate both the coach’s instructions and communication with teammates, as well as media interviews, a help he appreciates from the Congolese.
“He (Malonga) is my good friend, and he has been very important to me here. He translates everything for me, which makes life easier, and I pay him by scoring from his crosses, thus bringing him to the limelight,” he stated cheekily.
Police are currently fourth on the log with 43 points, 14 fewer than Gor Mahia. The Law Enforcers will now shift gears to the Mozzart Bet Cup Round of 16, where they are set to meet giant-killers BB Bread on Friday, 10 April at the Kasarani Annex.
