MCF FC sit rock bottom of the log with three points from six games
Mully Children Family FC tactician Robert Arasa Orangi has admitted to be under pressure following the poor start to the season in the 2023-2024 Football Kenya Federation National Super League season.
The former league favorites were busy in the player registration window but now find themselves in unfamiliar territories as they sit at the rock bottom of the log and are among the teams still waiting for the first win of the season.
MCF have played six games in which they have only managed to collect three points after playing stalemates to Darajani Gogo, SS Assad and Kisumu All stars while succumbing to injury minute defeats to Mulembe United, Naivas and Kajiado FC in the opening rounds of the season.
Last weekend the team battled to a barren draw to Kisumu All Stars, a performance the that impressed the gaffer.
“Last week we played a draw against All Stars and from the match day display I was impressed by what the boys offered despite not getting a win it at least showed that the team was starting to gel which is a bit promising on our side,” offered the former Kangemi All-star’s expert.
The promotion winning coach with the Yatta based club said that the team was paying for the mistakes made ahead of the new season further heaping more pressure on the technical bench.
“We are now paying for what we did in the transfer market. Due to unavoidable circumstances, we were not able to bring in new players on time and it has really affected us so far in the season. When you have new players joining you from every part of the country you are really going to struggle before they all understand what is needed of them and now that the prize we having paying,’ he added.
He added, “Our mission now is to go back to the drawing board and work on scoring because I trust the forwards are capable of finding the back of the net in order for us to start collecting three points. This week we are going to work have an intense training session as we prepare to battle Mombasa Stars at the weekend,” added the tactician.
Orangi believes he has good players that are able to produce positive results before the end of the first leg as well compete for the promotion spots.
“We have good players at the club that are capable of taking us to next level of the championship. We have really missed the services of Brian Kiptoo but he is back in training and in contention to be part of the squad this weekend. With such players making a comeback to the squad then it is a good signal that good things are about to kickstart,” he said
The tactician remained adamant of a win as he visits the Coast region to face Mombasa Stars in their next league tie.
“We are going for a win against Stars, we are away but all our games are like away matches and the boys have got enough motivation to propel them to a win.”
