Owalo was speaking after fulfilling his Ksh1 million promise to the squad after their hard-fought 1-0 Mashemeji Derby victory over AFC Leopards.

The result saw Gor open up a six-point lead at the summit of the FKF Premier League table with five matches left to play.

The patron lauded the players for their resilience in a high-stakes encounter, noting that the victory had strengthened belief within the camp that the title is within reach.

I believe we have what it takes to win the league, especially after yesterday's win in the derby. In fulfilling my promise, I want to thank the players for giving us the victory,” Owalo said.

However, even as optimism grows within K’Ogalo's ranks, Owalo was quick to caution against losing focus, insisting that the remaining fixtures will require full concentration and a measured approach.

I want to urge you to take each game at a time. Yes, we have five games to go, but focusing on one game, especially the next one in Kakamega, will be crucial in advancing our title hopes, and mine will be to support you,” he added.

Gor Mahia’s next assignment sees them travel to Bukhungu Stadium to face Kakamega Homeboyz, a tricky away fixture that could either solidify their grip at the top or reopen the title race.

The clash marks the beginning of a demanding run-in for the record league champions, who are also scheduled to face Kenya Police, Murang'a Seal, Mara Sugar, and Nairobi United in what promises to be a tense conclusion to the campaign.

Beyond the Ksh1 million pledge, the post-match celebrations also saw captain and match-winner Alpha Onyango pocket Ksh25,000 after being named Man of the Match, while the rest of the squad shared Ksh75,000 in bonuses from one of the club’s sponsors.
