Owino extends stay at City Stars for two and half years

Nairobi City Stars midfielder Vincent Owino Otieno has extended his stay at the club by signing a deal that will take him to the close of the 2025-26 season.

This comes after the former Talanta man finalized his two-and-a-half-year contract extension, confirmed by his club on Friday 26 January.

“City Stars is my home and the best place for my career growth,” Owino told the club media. “That made the decision to extend the contract an easy one.”

Asked about the significance of the extension, he said: “I can now focus on improving my performance and that of the team.”

City Stars are currently under some fine run of form and are now second on the FKF Premier log with 33 points from 19 matches.

As for Owino, he has been a regular in all of the aforementioned fixtures, featuring for 1477 minutes while leading the club’s goal-scoring charts with six goals.

He also has three assists to his name and has placed four key passes.

Last season, the midfielder, who joined Simba wa Nairobi with Dennis Oalo from Talanta, scored three times and provided two assists in 14 second-leg league games played.

He also had six key passes and clocked a total of 1123 minutes.

“We are more than happy that Vincent has chosen to extend his stay at City Stars,” head coach Nicholas Muyoti said. “He is one of our best performers and very key to our setup.

“He made the right decision.”

City Stars are next in league action on 4 February when they take on Shabana.
