The feat is yet to be achieved in the Kenyan top flight in recent years
Kariobangi Sharks’ fledgling talent Paul Odhiambo has set an ambitious target ahead of the new season as he hopes to capture the Golden Boot in two successive seasons.
Odhiambo will be making his debut in the top flight after joining William Muluya’s side from National Super League outfit, Dimba Patriots in the off-season transfer window.
The forward claimed that Sharks have the capacity to land the title despite a number of young players in the squad as he revealed his target of winning the Golden Boot in two consecutive seasons.
“We are ready to fight for the league. Our squad comprises of many young players who are hungry and are ready to die for the team.
My target is to be the top scorer this season and I also want to be the top scorer in the coming season. I want to do it twice consecutively,” said Odhiambo.
Lifting the Golden Boot back to back is a feat yet to be achieved in the Kenyan top tier in recent years with only Erick Kapaito lifting it twice on separate occasions since 2009.
Odhiambo however admitted that he has his work cut out if he is to achieve his lofty targets as he looks to sharpen his finishing and fitness.
“I want to work on my finishing because it is still not where I want it to be and I also want to improve on my fitness before the season starts,” added Odhiambo.
The forward recently attended unsuccessful trials at Belgian outfit, KAA Gent and is an alumnus of the famed Dagoretti High School football team.
