Leipzig striker puts a pen on a five-year deal

The saga which started a few weeks ago, when Liverpool managed to get into Alexander Isak’s ‘head’ and get him excited to leave Newcastle has been finished a few days ago and today it was officially confirmed: Benjamin Sesko signed a five-year deal with Manchester United. The Slovenian striker came from from Leipzig for a hefty 85,000,000 euros, making him one of the most expensive strikers in Premier League history, the fourth most expensive transfer in Manchester United’s history, and the third most expensive of this July. From the moment Newcastle found out that Isak wants to leave and go to Liverpool, they tried to find a replacement. At that time, with two forwards already on the books and with 140 million pounds spent on them, Manchester knew about Sesko but didn’t felt they need to bid for him. They expect to get him next season. But when Newcastle stepped in, they decided they must react, unless they want to risk the young prospect who they rated highly.

How did they found the money remains a mystery, but their name and history, made by Sir Alex Ferguson was enough to convince Sesko to choose them over Newcastle.

The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future. When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon. From the moment that I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment that the club has created. It is clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil all of my ambitions. I cannot wait to start learning from Ruben Amorim and connecting with my team-mates to achieve the success that we all know we are capable of together” he said to the club’s website.
