Shabana FC head coach Peter Okidi has boldly declared his side’s title ambitions, insisting the Kisii-based outfit is in the FKF Premier League to compete for top honours, not merely to make up the numbers.

Okidi spoke after Tore Bobe secured a 2-0 victory over Posta Rangers, a result that showed their growing credentials in the title race.
The Glamour Boys have amassed 34 points after 20 rounds and currently sit third on the table, ten points behind leaders Gor Mahia.
“Shabana is in the league to compete and win it. We are not here to merely participate. Our performances in the league speak for themselves,” Okidi told reporters.
The tactician emphasised that the team will treat every remaining fixture as decisive as they chase what would be a maiden top-flight title.
“Each of our remaining games is like a final. We will take every game with the seriousness it deserves, and we believe at the end of the season this team will have something to smile about,” he added.
Okidi also highlighted the impact of the club’s new signings, noting that internal competition has strengthened the squad.
“We have a lot of depth in the team, which is healthy. Competition is at its best, and that will certainly help us in the long run.
Everyone has to be ready for the demands and help the team improve on our current position,” he said.
Shabana began the campaign brightly with wins over APS Bomet and Bandari FC.
However, a run of three consecutive defeats briefly stalled their momentum and threatened to derail their push for a maiden league crown.
The Kisii-based side regained their rhythm midway through the season, reasserting themselves as a genuine contender.
A commanding 3-1 victory over KCB FC cemented their status among the early pace setters, and they ended the year strongly as joint league leaders.
Since the turn of the year, Shabana have suffered just one defeat, a remarkable run that has seen them overcome formidable opponents, including Bandari twice and reigning champions Kenya Police FC.
The club was among the most improved sides last season, finishing fifth in the 2024/2025 campaign, a foundation they now hope will propel them to even greater heights this term.
