Shabana FC held Muhoroni Youth to a barren draw in a friendly match played at Muhoroni Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) returnees were on transit to Nairobi where they will unveil their shirt sponsor for next season on Sunday.

Youth were playing their second warm up fixture in a span of three days as they continue preparations for their return to the top flight in six years.

"It was a good test match," Youth coach Charles Odera told Mozzart Sport after the encounter.

"Our aim was to continue improving on our fitness levels and build that competitive mentality we need as we near the season opener," Odera added.

On Wednesday, they went down 1-0 to Kenya's sole representative to the CAF Confederation Cup Kakamega Homeboyz FC.

On his part Shabana FC coach Sammy Okoth underscored the need for his side to continue building confidence by playing top level sides.

"Some of our players will be featuring in the Premier League for the first time and there's a need for them to get that feel in advance," the former Zoo FC coach said.

Shabana will open their season with a home clash against their fellow newcomers Murang'a Seal FC on 26th August 2023.

They will then travel to Talanta FC for their second outing before taking on Police FC in their third game of the new season.

"We know that the season is going to be very competitive, and we're making sure that we can compete when the time comes," Okoth said.

Shabana gained promotion to the FKFPL by virtue of winning the National Super League (NSL).

Seal finished second with Muhoroni emerging victorious in the promotion/relegation playoff against Migori Youth who, remained in the second tier.

The club has since acquired a Ksh. 20 million shirt sponsorship deal which they intend to unveil on Sunday in Nairobi.
