Okoth is the fifth FKFPL manager to face the axe this season
FKF Premier League club Shabana FC have mutually agreed to part ways with their head coach Sammy Okoth, a team statement confirmed on Monday evening.
Following Okoth through the exit door as per the team’s joint statement signed by Club Chairman Jared Ombongi will be goalkeeper Collins Oduor.

The development comes after a Monday meeting by the club management that sought to reorganize the team’s technical bench following a dismal start to the campaign by last season’s National Super League champions.
Having led Shabana to a momentous return to Kenya’s top tier league after more than a decade out, Okoth struggled in his first ten games of the 2023-24 season, winning once, and slipping to the bottom of the table.
Shabana’s sole win was against Tusker FC (1-0) on 6 October, and the club has since then drawn once and lost their last three; the latest being a 2-1 loss to Bandari on the road at the Mbaraki Stadium.
Okoth had after a 4-0 drabbing to Ulinzi Stars over a week ago told the media that he was resigning, and that someone else should take over the club, only to return early last week, leading his boys in training.
Oscar Kambona will in the meantime serve as the interim head coach as the team management “actively engage in the search for a suitable replacement for this vital position.”
The joint statement from the club wished Okoth and Oduor well noting: “As a club, we deeply value and appreciate the significant contributions and unwavering dedication they have exhibited throughout their tenure with our organization. We extend our heartfelt best wishes for their future endeavors.”
