Club Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama confirmed that the Glamour Boys are also engaging a local tactician as they move to appoint a substantive head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season, marking the start of a new technical bench direction after a turbulent campaign.
Monday’s exit came after his short-term contract expired at the beginning of June, bringing to an end a brief stint in charge.
“Monday was on a short-term contract, which ended at the beginning of June. In the next two or three weeks, we shall unveil a technical bench,” Kerama said in an interview with The Star.
Shabana’s search for a new head coach follows a season marked by frequent changes in the dugout. Head coach Peter Okidi left the club in March, while assistant coach Benard Mwalala departed earlier in January to join Bandari FC.
Kerama admitted the instability contributed to inconsistency on the pitch, even as the club finished fifth in the FKF Premier League.
The club is now prioritising stability, with foreign expertise emerging as a key part of its restructuring plan.
“We are in talks with two foreign coaches and one local tactician,” Kerama confirmed.
Alongside the technical bench overhaul, Shabana are also preparing for a significant squad reshuffle. The club plans to release up to 15 players while bringing in around 10 new signings to build a leaner and more competitive team for the new season.
“In the just-concluded season, we had 32 players. However, some of the players did not contribute much. We want a lean but competitive squad,” Kerama said.
On player exits, Kerama confirmed that defender Wycliffe Omondi has joined Nairobi United after failing to agree on a contract extension.
“We tried our best to keep him, but it was not possible,” he said.
Shabana are also working on logistical adjustments ahead of the new season, with Gusii Stadium currently closed for a Ksh1 billion renovation project expected to last nine months.
William Ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok and Afraha Stadium in Nakuru are among the venues under consideration, alongside discussions for additional alternatives.
“Negotiations with the two counties are at an advanced stage,” Kerama said.
Off the pitch, the club is renegotiating sponsorship agreements with their shirt sponsor and Azam TV while seeking additional partners to strengthen its financial position.
Kerama further revealed that Shabana generated Ksh8 million from replica jersey sales and highlighted progress within the club’s development structure, including Shabana Queens’ promotion to the Women’s Premier League and the youth team’s elevation to the regional league.
