Olunga's absence was felt keenly as Al Arabi collapsed defensively against a ruthless Duhail attack.

Doha witnessed one of the most shocking results of the Qatari Pro League season on Saturday evening, 20 September, when Al Arabi SC, home to Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga, crumbled to a devastating 8–1 defeat against rivals Al Duhail.

The heavy loss, Al Arabi’s third of the campaign after just five rounds, leaves the side languishing in ninth place.

While Olunga has already netted twice this season, he was not part of the matchday squad, and his absence was felt keenly as Al Arabi collapsed defensively against a ruthless Duhail attack.

In continental action, Harambee Stars defender Alphonce Omija missed Étoile Sportive du Sahel’s opening leg of the CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round.

The two-time winners suffered a shock 1–0 defeat to Sudanese side Al-Ahli Wad Medani in a match staged at the Azam Complex, Tanzania.

It was the first time Omija has sat out since joining the Tunisian giants, who now face a tricky return leg in a week’s time.

The spotlight, however, shifted to Kenya’s rising stars in the CAF Champions League.

At the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Zambia, reigning FKF Premier League top scorer Moses Shumah and last season’s runner-up Emmanuel Osoro made their continental debuts for Power Dynamos.

Shumah clocked full minutes, while Osoro came on late as Dynamos edged ASEC Mimosas 1–0 courtesy of Innocent Kashita’s seventh-minute header. The slim win gives the Zambian champions a slight edge ahead of the return leg in Côte d’Ivoire.

In Luanda, Angola, Harambee Stars midfielder Duke Abuya impressed for Tanzanian powerhouse Yanga SC on Friday, 19 September. The Timu ya Wananchi cruised past Angolan side Wiliete in emphatic style, sealing a crucial advantage ahead of their return fixture on Saturday, 27 September, at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

Elsewhere in Europe, Kenyan footballers continued to stamp their mark.

In Poland, Timothy Ouma featured for the entire match as Lech Poznań secured a 2–0 win over Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza, lifting them to sixth in the Ekstraklasa with 13 points.

Denmark-based Daniel Anyembe started for Viborg FF in their 2–0 loss to Midtjylland. The result left Viborg tenth in the Superliga with nine points, four clear of bottom side Vejle BK.

While in Serbia, defender Collins Shichenje endured a difficult outing for FK Vojvodina, receiving a red card just before halftime in their narrow 1–0 defeat to Novi Pazar. Despite the loss, Vojvodina remain third in the SuperLiga standings.
