Meanwhile, Kenyan striker John Avire scored the winner for Al Sekka in the Egyptian Division 2A

Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma got another taste of European club football action on Thursday, 3 October after featuring for his club - Lech Poznan - in the opening game of the Europa Conference League.

Ouma, 21, played for all 90 minutes of Poznan's 4-1 victory over Austrian club SK Rapid Wien, a performance that put them third on 36-team table.

The Polish side, playing at their Enea Stadion, got into the lead after 13 minutes through Luis Palma, before doubling their advantage eight minutes later via Michael Ishak.

Taofeek Ismaheel made the scores 3-0 seconds before the break, and it was only after the hour-mark that the visitors grabbed a lifeline when Andrija Radulovic.

Leo Bengtsson put Poznan's victory beyond doubt with a fourth goal in the 77th minute, marking a super return for the Polish side, who were unfortunate not to play in the Europa League after losing out to Belgian side Genk in the playoffs.

Ouma, who was in a familiar competition he featured for in Sweden with IF Elfsborg last season, got a 6.7 ranking from Flashscore, despite being booked for unsportsmanlike conduct in the 88th minute.

The Kenyan will be back in action on Sunday, 5 October when Poznan take on GKS Katowice in the Ekstraklasa.

Kibunguchy features in Southeast Asia

Elsewhere in Singapore, Kenyan defender Nabilai Kibunguchy was in action as his new side - Hougang United - secured a 2-0 victory over Young Lions to get off the mark this season.

Kibunguchy, 27, came off the bench in the 65th minute for the injured Ryaan Sanizal, and ended up playing 26 minutes of the win.

The cameo was only his second appearance for United, having only signed for them on 15 September.

The center back, whose only appearance for Harambee Stars came in a 5-0 thrashing of Seychelles in November 2023, previously featured for American side Orlando City B, which he left earlier this year.
