21 year old forward Marokhy Ndione gave Elfsborg the solitary winning goal from the penalty spot in the 13th minute of the game to give his side their first points at home in the 2021 season.
Okumu, who was named in the starting eleven of the match day three squad, played the full minutes as his team marched to their first clean sheet of the season after three attempts this season.
With the first win, Elfsborg rose up to position six on the log table.
Anthony Wambani
Still in Sweden, but in the second tier, Kenyan defender Anthony Wambani’s goal was not enough to prevent his Vasalunds side from succumbing to a second league 2-1 defeat against Vasteras SK in the Superettan round three clash.
The match, played at the Iver Arena stadium got off to a quick start as the home team scored two goals in the opening twenty minutes. William Videhult scored the opening goal in the 17th minute after being set up by Simon Johansson. Just two minutes later, Gustaf Lagerbielke added another goal from thepenalty spot to double the hosts’ advantage.
Four minutes to the half time interval, Wambani pulled one back for the visiting team after a Takuto Yasuoka assist. Despite handing his team a lifeline, Vasteras hanged onto their one goal advantage until the referee blew the final whistle.
The defeat, a second in three games, left Vasalunds rooted on the bottom of the log on only one point. Vasteras on the other hand rose upto ninth place on the log table.
