Luton Town suffered a loss on their Premier League debut but at least they celebrated a goal
Luton Town is a tiny club that's been through a lot in the past decade. But their persistence and heroics led them to the Premier League - and today the Hatters got their first taste of football in the so-called best league in the world.
In their very first game, they lost at Brighton and Hove Albion 4-1. They could have conceded a few more goals, also could have snatched another. However, the main takeaway from this game is that working hard and being passionate can only get you so far.
The boys in orange shirts were facing a tough task playing Roberto De Zerbi's Seagulls, and they did a lot to help the hosts - something they must eradicate from their game if they're to have any chance of remaining in the division.
What a goal from Simon to double up the lead for Brighton against Luton

A first-half free header from Solly March, a penalty from new signing Joao Pedro and a lost ball that allowed Brighton's Ivorian recruit Simon Adingra to score easily have undone the Hatters' brief bid of a comeback. Carlton Morris converted a penalty after a Lewis Dunk handball to reduce the deficit to 2-1 and give Luton fans something to celebrate. But Adingra's goal just a few minutes later was the end.
Evan Ferguson scored deep in injury time to make it 4-1 and remind Luton coach Rob Edwards the time for celebrating the club's historic promotion has passed - and playing with the big boys will take a lot more effort and focus.
