Christian Mawissa pays the price for being late… in Apple devices
Discipline at Monaco spins on a wheel - literally.
And a few days ago, it landed squarely on Christian Mawissa.
The young French defender of Congolese descent turned up late to training and learned the hard way what happens when you break the rules in the Principality.
At AS Monaco, no one is above the code. They live by a strict set of rules - and a touch of humour. Any player who slips up must face the club's famous "wheel of punishments," a tradition meant to blend discipline with team spirit.
The wheel can bring laughs - cleaning boots, serving lunch, wearing a silly costume - or tears. And this time, fate showed no mercy. Mawissa's spin stopped on one of the harshest options:
"Buy an iPhone 16 Pro Max for the entire squad."

The result? He has to buy an iPhone 16 Pro Max for the whole squad. 😂📱 pic.twitter.com/vPf0ECksNs
That means around 25 brand-new iPhones, one for each teammate, including Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu, a fine that could easily climb into tens of thousands of euros.
Such a costly error for the 20-year-old, who joined Monaco from Toulouse in 2024 and has been one of Ligue 1's most promising defenders this season. He's composed on the ball, powerful in duels, and mature beyond his years.
However, even rising stars aren't exempt from the rules. At Monaco, punctuality is sacred. And for Mawissa, one late morning now comes with a price worthy of Apple's best.
