Bournemouth took advantage of the Magpies' depleted squad at Dean Court

Newcastle United are in deep trouble. Their ever-expanding list of injured and suspended players put them in a dangerous position as Bournemouth scored an easy 2-0 win over Eddie Howe's bruised and battered team.

The visitors, fresh from losing to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, had to give a start to Lewis Miley, Newcastle's youngest-ever Premier League starter. Within the first two minutes, both Ryan Christie and Antoine Semenyo tested Nick Pope. Despite a warning shot from Sean Longstaff, a crucial intervention from Jamaal Lascelles was needed to thwart Dominic Solanke's attempt.

As the half-hour mark approached, concerns mounted for Howe, with Pope forced into action against powerful strikes from Justin Kluivert and Christie. Miguel Almiron's injury further compounded Newcastle's woes. Andoni Iraola's side must have wondered how they weren't leading at halftime, with Semenyo missing a chance and faltering in front of goal after being played through again.

The second half continued the trend, with Solanke seizing on a mistake from Kieran Trippier but failing to capitalize by sending the ball out of play when attempting to round Pope. Bournemouth's first genuine scare came just before the hour mark, as Trippier's free-kick delivery was awkwardly dealt with, hitting Joe Willock after Solanke's attempted clearance. This seemed to ignite Bournemouth, with Solanke putting them ahead moments later after Willock's tackle on Semenyo set him up.

Despite attempts from Anthony Gordon and the introduction of 18-year-old Ben Parkinson for his club debut, Newcastle failed to find an equalizer. Solanke, who had not scored in his first seven matches against Newcastle, secured his brace in 13 minutes, reacting swiftly to Luis Sinisterra's header hitting the post.

Bournemouth's victory marked back-to-back home wins, a significant turnaround after a winless start to the league campaign. The Magpies, on the other hand, saw their seven-game unbeaten run in the Premier League come to an end, suffering consecutive losses.
