Trinity began the year with a 3-0 victory over Gideon Starlets in a FKF Women Premier League (WPL) match played on Sunday 11 January at Comboni Polytechnic in Gilgil.

A first half strike from Rebeca Musango and second half goals from Centrine Ngasi and Major Mercyline were all that the Kikopey-based side needed to soothe the pain of their previous loss.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport after the match, an elated Wesonga disclosed the factors that helped the club to bounce back from the defeat.

“The festive break came at the right time for us. The players went to be with their families, unwind and came back stronger and more focused, putting behind our last game's tribulations,” said Wesonga.

According to the former Wadadia FC tactician, the coaching staff also stepped up to offer guidance to the girls.

“We also talked to them as the technical staff and together we agreed to focus on training and preparing for our next match which I am glad we won,” he revealed.

Wesonga also took time to acknowledge the crucial role that the team’s honcho Archbishop Josam Kariuki had played in as far as remuneration is concerned.

“I really want to appreciate our Director (Kariuki) who has always ensured that our salaries and bonuses are paid on time which then gives the team the motivation to work even harder,” he stated.

Further, Wesonga appreciated the importance of the win, explaining its importance to Trinity's second half of the season.

The win ensured that we ended the first leg on a high and gave us the momentum to be even better in the second leg.”

Trinity are currently fourth on the log standings with 23 points, two shy of league leaders Kenya Police Bullets.
