Meja, Asike jointly clinch May player of the month award
Tusker duo of Eugene Asike and Sammy Meja have been named and awarded as the May players of the month following their exemplary performances.
Meja who started the season playing much of the campaign on the periphery was handed a starting chance after restart and helped the club salvage a point against Wazito after finding the back of the net.
Asike on the other hand has also played in all the matches since the restart, but came on as a second half substitute in the Football Kenya Federation Cup match away to Marafiki FC.

“I feel very delighted about it, but I believe it is team effort, I believe we are all winners. It is a good gesture and this makes me feel motivated going forward. Seeing the executive office come here to appreciate the work we are doing and appreciate the team brings good energy into the camp,” said Asike who doubles up as the team assistant captain.
While acknowledging his award, Meja thanked coach Robert Matano for the confidence he has had in him since restart.
“I am thankful to be awarded. The coach believed in me and gave me the chance and I took it with both hands and gave 100pc. The coach believed in me and I am glad that belief has paid off,” said the former Thika United defender.

The players were presented with their awards by club Chairman Daniel Aduda who noted that the recognition would go a long way in triggering positive results from the players.
“As the management we will always be in support of you as players and we will motivate you to bring in good results. This month, we decided to award two players and we will look to do the same moving forward,” he said.
The two join Henry Meja and Jackson Macharia who clinched the award in the previous months.
